WE ARE THE DECORATING DUO

The ‘Design Team’ of John Thompson and David Washburn combine their individual talents and a lifetime of experience to create beautiful and functional living spaces, as ‘The Decorating Duo’.

John, growing up in West Virginia, was always being creative, whether decorating, art, or singing. His passion for music eventually brought him to Nashville to pursue a singing career and eventually traveling for several years with a Grammy winning country artist, while still creating beautiful living spaces, whether for himself or friends as time allowed, as well as becoming an accomplished acrylic artist. John now concentrates on interior design and painting full time.

David, grew up in Southeastern Ohio, working for several years in Social Services, and like John, always had a passion for being creative, as well as learning a multitude of ‘handyman’ skills along the way that would later become invaluable for ‘The Decorating Duo’. David eventually moved to Nashville to also pursue his passion full time.

After combining their talents, The Duo worked on 3 episodes of the hit TLC design show ‘Trading Spaces’, while filming in Nashville. One of the rooms they assisted with designing was featured on the cover of ‘The Trading Spaces’ book, Instant Impact.

Their home and designs have also been featured in Better Homes and Gardens magazines, ‘Do It Yourself’ and ‘Big Style for Small Rooms’, as well as numerous local publications.
